Together, we can help you get the quality transplant care you need and deserve.

Programs from The Methodist Transplant Institute are approved and/or accredited through the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS), the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT), and Medicare and Medicaid.

McAllen transplant services

Methodist Transplant Institute, formerly known as Texas Transplant Institute, is located at Methodist Hospital Specialty and Transplant in San Antonio, TX, and is recognized nationally and throughout the world as a leader in transplant services. Through our partnership, we are able to connect you with the institute's distinguished specialists to have transplant surgery in McAllen or San Antonio, depending on your healthcare needs.

Transplants may mean regular visits and checkups with specialists both before and after transplant. As part of our collaboration, we provide expert pre-and post-transplant care at affiliated clinics located on our campus at Rio Grande Regional Hospital. That means you can spend more time at home, and near family and friends, as you prepare for and recover from your transplant without having to travel to San Antonio as often.

We help provide services for a variety of transplants, including:

  • Advanced heart failure and transplant
  • Kidney transplant
  • Liver transplant
  • Pancreas transplant

Initial evaluations, screenings and follow-up care for solid organ transplants are provided at the Methodist Transplant Institute McAllen Patient Care Center, located across from our hospital in the McAllen Medical Plaza. Services for bone marrow and stem cell transplants are provided at the clinic inside of Rio Grande Regional Hospital.
