March of Dimes and Rio Grande Regional Hospital to host Pregnancy and Infant Loss Rememberance Day

Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day is a day of remembrance for pregnancy loss and infant death which includes but is not limited to miscarriage, stillbirth, SIDS, or the death of a newborn. It is observed annually in the United States on October 15.

On Monday, October 15, 2012, March of Dimes and Rio Grande Regional Hospital will be hosting a special memorial in honor of those infants that did not have an opportunity to make it into this world. The memorial will begin at 10:00 am at Rio Grande Regional Hospital located at 101 E. Ridge Road in McAllen in their Classrooms 1A and 1B. A butterfly release at 10:45 am will close the memorial ceremony.

The March of Dimes and Rio Grande Regional Hospital strives to ensure that all babies are born healthy but we also don’t want to forget those that we have lost. “We envisioned a day when all grieving parents would come together and be surrounded by love and support from their friends and families, a day where the community could better understand their pain and learn how to reach out to those grieving” said Dr. Maria Lozano-Gorena. If you or a loved one has experienced a loss of an infant, we invite you to join us for this special memorial in their honor. For more information contact Adriana Morales at Rio Grande Regional Hospital at (956) 661-3110.
