McAllen, Texas — Rio Grande Regional Hospital (RGRH) is pleased to announce the promotion of Alfred Mascorro MSN, RN, CPHQ, to Chief Nursing Officer (CNO). Mascorro assumed the role effective July 7, 2025.

Since joining the hospital in 2017 as the Quality Compliance Manager, Mascorro has held several key leadership roles, including Director of Quality, vice president of quality and, most recently, associate chief nursing officer. During his tenure, Mascorro has overseen significant clinical and quality advancements. His leadership has been instrumental in the hospital achieving Chest Pain Accreditation, Primary Stroke Accreditation and three successful Joint Commission surveys.

Mascorro brings a unique and diverse background to his role, having served in the U.S. Army for three years and spending over a decade in the banking industry before transitioning into healthcare. His clinical experience includes adult intensive care with a focus on surgical and transplant care.

Mascorro earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Houston Baptist University in 2012 and his Master of Science in Nursing Administration from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley in 2020. He is a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ), Lean Six Sigma certified and a graduate of several HCA Healthcare leadership programs, including the Essential Leadership, Leadership Institute for Advancement (LIA), Advanced Leadership Program and the Executive Development Program.
