We offer comprehensive services centered around your needs, providing a full range of expertise, from prenatal care and labor and delivery through postpartum care. Additionally, our 27-bed Obstetrics and Gynecology Unit provides premier post-operative care.

Prenatal Care (Antepartum)/Labor and Delivery

Approximately 3,000 babies are born annually at RGRH. This unit is dedicated to ensuring the comfort and well being of the expectant mother and her child with features including:

  • 9-bed, high-risk Antepartum Unit
  • 14-bed Labor and Delivery Unit
  • 2 C-Section Operating Rooms on standby 24 hours a day with a specially trained staff
  • On-site lactation specialists are available to assist with breastfeeding education 5 days a week
  • 6 bed OB PACU
  • 24 hour CRNA coverage specifically for L&D/WS
  • 24/7 Neonatologist coverage

Postpartum Care

Recognizing the special needs of women immediately after the birth of their babies, RGRH provides a dedicated Postpartum Care Unit. This is a 27-bed unit, with each bed located in a private room –thus creating a more peaceful surrounding that reduces stress while, maximizing the patient's comfort level and sense of privacy. There are 7 Cameo rooms designed with a special touch including plush furniture, flat screen TVs, nicely tiled shower and bathroom to offer to patient’s with a desire for a larger room.

Obstetrics and Gynecology

This 27-bed unit is staffed by extensively trained and experienced nurses and is equipped to provide premier post-operative care to thousands of women annually. Also, the unit accepts patients from other areas of the Women's Services spectrum when additional accommodations are needed. Newborn Nursery

Caring and loving nursing staff will provide quality care to your new baby. All nursing staff in Women's Services have successfully completed the Neonatal Resuscitation Program and breastfeeding education. Lactation consultants (IBCLC and Texas Breastfeeding Educators) are available to help you successfully begin to breastfeed and serve as resources during your stay. Our Lactation Consultants are equipped to assist those mothers who have been dismissed from RGRH and present with additional needs in regard to breastfeeding. We are family centered, developmentally oriented and strive to meet your family’s individual needs.

Nervous about the new baby coming? Our Childbirth classes focus on the many needs of expectant parents to help prepare them for one of the most important events of their lives.

Our Childbirth class reviews different breathing and relaxation techniques, the stages of labor and when to come to the hospital, medications available for pain relief, what happens in case there is a cesarean section, what to expect from your newborn, and how to care for yourself and your baby once you are home.

At our Breastfeeding class, you will learn about benefits of breastfeeding, proper latch-on, different breastfeeding holds, and how to prevent common problems.

Our classes are taught by experienced RN’s and IBCLC Lactation Consultants. We offer class once per month on a Saturdays and they are free!
