Texas Transplant Institute

Rio Grande Regional Hospital has partnered with Methodist Healthcare in San Antonio to establish the Texas Transplant Institute (TTI). The Institute integrates both solid organ transplant and blood and marrow stem cell transplant. TTI’s programs are approved and/or accredited by the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS), the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cell Therapy (FACT), Medicare, and Medicaid.

The Institute's multi-disciplinary team approach to patient care includes highly skilled physicians, advanced practice nurses, transplant coordinators, dietitians, social workers, pharmacists, and other caregivers dedicated to the care of transplant candidates, recipients, and donors. The patient and their referring physician are integral parts of the transplant team.

A TTI satellite campus is located inside Rio Grande Regional Hospital and provides a more convenient and efficient service for local patients in need of transplantation. Bi-monthly outpatient clinics are held at the hospital to evaluate patients with kidney, pancreas, and liver disease, allowing patients access to necessary treatment without having to travel outside of the Valley.
