Rio Grande Regional Hospital’s Celebrates the Opening of the New Helicopter Landing Pad

Rio Grande Regional Hospital (RGRH) celebrated the opening of the New Helicopter Landing Pad located next to the emergency entrance.  RGRH and AirEvac LifeTeam, the country’s largest independently owned and operated air ambulance service with over 25 years of experience, are working together to provide prompt patient care and quality air transport.  Rio Grande Regional Hospital identified the need to have an onsite helicopter landing pad to expedite transport and treatment of trauma patients.  Patients requiring Advanced Level III Trauma care will no longer have to wait for ground ambulance transport to the hospital.  Trauma patients transported via helicopter to Rio Grande Regional Hospital will land on RGRH’s landing pad and will be greeted by emergency department personnel who will provide immediate care.

“The new helicopter landing pad located immediately outside the emergency department doors, combined with our Advanced Level III Trauma services, are ways in which we continue to better serve the Rio Grande Valley,” said Cris Rivera, Chief Executive Officer.   “As we continue to celebrate the hospital’s 30th anniversary, we are proud to expand our services and implement additional resources that will benefit our communities.”
