Houston, Texas (February 6, 2017) — HCA Gulf Coast Division announced today that Jim Brown has been named chief development officer, effective February 13, 2017. In this capacity, Brown will support and collaborate with the HCA Gulf Coast Division leadership team in guiding the division’s development initiatives to improve and expand health care programs in the Houston and South Texas communities we serve.

“Jim’s extensive expertise with large hospital systems in the Houston market includes hospital management, strategic planning, physician recruitment and marketing. This makes him the perfect person to lead our commitment to development,” said Troy Villarreal, president of the HCA Gulf Coast Division. “We are excited Jim is joining our division’s senior leadership team as we continue to expand and strengthen the various health care services we offer our customers.”

Brown was most recently the senior vice president/chief executive officer of ambulatory services for Memorial Hermann Health System. Brown has also served as the orthopedic service line executive for Memorial Hermann Health System and chief executive officer of Memorial Hermann Sugar Land Hospital. His career began at Christus St. Joseph’s Health System in Paris, Texas as an administrative resident, eventually rising to the rank of vice president. He later served as chief operating officer at Lea Regional Medical Center in Hobbs, New Mexico, and chief operating officer at Doctors Hospital of Dallas.

Brown earned his bachelor’s degree in marketing at Texas A&M University and a master’s degree in healthcare administration from Trinity University. He is a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives, an advisory board member of the Trinity University Healthcare Administration Program, and serves as a guest lecturer and preceptor for the Texas A&M Masters of Healthcare Administration Program.

His community involvement is extensive, including serving as co-chair of the Sugar Land Skeeters Baseball Foundation, president of the Ft. Bend Education Foundation, and board member of the Ft. Bend Economic Development Council. He is also on the City of Sugar Land Planning and Zoning Commission. Brown and his wife, Heather, have six children.
